THE NUUK SNOW FESTIVAL

This ice sculpture festival is open to artists from all over the world. It normally takes place in the third week of March in Nuuk but is sometimes cancelled due to lack of snow due to global warming. Each team of sculptors receives a block of snow from the organizers. The final result is an extraordinary range of ice forms set in a park lit at night, creating fantastic lighting effects on these ephemeral works of art. The best sculptures are awarded prizes on the fourth day of the festival.
