CRUISE ON THE ICE FJORD OF QOOROQ
The boat trip not to be missed, regardless of the weather! Heading towards the ice cap, you will be amazed by the incredible number of icebergs stranded on the moraines while making a winding passage between a multitude of stranded pieces of ice, here and there, with multiple shapes, textures and colours, as well as intense blue reflections for those who have just turned around... The engine is then shut down, a majestic silence settles down to be interrupted from time to time by the crashing sounds of icebergs that detach themselves from the glacier, spill or crash into the icy water. A rare sight that you will not soon forget. We must learn that this huge glacier discharges about 200,000 tonnes of ice per day into the fjord! During the trip, a guide collects ice cubes to decorate cocktails (without alcohol): by escaping into the glass, the millenary bubbles will release small crackles... !
This excursion usually lasts between 1h30 and 3h. It does not present any particular difficulty. Remember to wear warm clothes as the air is much cooler in the cold water, it would be a shame not to enjoy it fully! This tour is offered during the summer season by the two local tour operators Blue Ice Explorer and Tasermiut for about DKK 580 per person. Refreshments and hot drinks are available on site.
