ABBAZIA BENEDETTINA DI SANTA MARIA IN SYLVIS

Founded in the 7th century, this ancient abbey is a true jewel of medieval art and architecture. The basilica and the cycle of frescoes of the Giotto school that adorn the walls are wonderfully preserved. In the crypt there is an important bas-relief with the Annunciation and the sarcophagus of St. Anastasia, a masterpiece of Lombard art from the 8th century. On the portal of the church you can see the coat of arms of the Venetian Pietro Barbo, future Pope Paul II.
