Il sommergibile (the submarine), named Sebastiano Veniero, after the 86th doge of Venice, who served in the Mediterranean at the beginning of the Second World War and stopped over in Elba before his tragic mission. A memorial stone is also located on the quay of the port of Portoferraio.
