Travel Guide Idaho Falls

Less than two hours from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, Idaho Falls is the third city of Idaho in terms of an urban area, which it shares with its neighbor Pocatello. From north to south, the Snake River, tributary of the Columbia River, crosses the city. In 1865, his original state was the construction of a bridge that dominated a black basalt gorge. The city has a first development under the name Eagle Rock, an island of basalt where the eagles elected. The Shoshone massacre in the region promotes pioneer migration. It was from 1879, under the impetus of the Union Pacific Railroad, that the railway developed its expansion. Twelve years later, the city is renamed Idaho Falls as a reference to rapids flowing under the bridge of the city. With its bricks and buildings in the late nineteenth century, Idaho Falls is an interesting step on the road to Yellowstone or Glacier National Park.
