Isiro has a population of 250,000. The town is surrounded by dense forest and crossed by the Isiro River. It is situated on a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. It is the second-largest town in the province of Haut-Uele. The Isiro River flows through the town, providing an important source of water for the local population. Worth seeing: its landscape of forest, savannah and traditional circular houses, the Lumumba traffic circle in honor of the country's first Prime Minister and the Maison Bleue, where Sister Anuarite met her tragic end in December 1964. The town is also home to a cathedral.
