Nestled between the Karakoram chain and the Tibetan plateau, the Deosai plain stretches majestically over 3 000 square kilometres. From the top of its 4 000 meters altitude, it is the second highest plateau in the world. On these wild and silent lands, there is a rare and diverse fauna and flora. Spring gives life to rare flowers and plants, some of which are not uncommon elsewhere, and then leaves room for the Christmas season, during which baltis and Kashmiris bergers viennent their herds. The plain, where a few small streams flow, houses golden marmots, ibex, foxes, brown bears, wolves and snow leopards. For centuries, we believed its land haunted by giants, which earned its nickname'land of giants '.
