According to a legend, an octopus once saved the country from an attack of Saracen pirates. It went to stick to the ropes of the bell tower to alert the whole population, which allowed to resist a certain invasion. In honor of the octopus carillonneur, popular and gourmet festivities take place every year in August. It is a good opportunity to discover typical Ligurian recipes based on this cephalopod so emblematic of the area.
