SMALL & BIG NAMBAS

These two tribes, the Small Nambas and the Big Nambas, are among the best known in Vanuatu. The word "nambas" refers to the penian case that men wore, and still wear during traditional dances. Small and Big are not related to the size of the latter, but to the size of both tribes. Based in Malekula, these cannibal communities in the past live in perfect harmony.
