In the Dawid Kruiper municipality, this small village is located just before the entrance to the national park. It is a good place to stop for petrol, to get some money, to buy some groceries, which will be cheaper than in the national park, or to meet the Bushmen, who sell souvenirs on the side of the road, at the intersection with the national road. Sometimes they also offer cultural tours explaining their traditions. In Askham there are also a number of guesthouses for accommodation, which are quite luxurious. Here you are at the gateway to the Kalahari Desert.
