The rhino sanctuary managed by African Parks is located within Liwonde Park. Created in 1993 to reintroduce black rhinos, decimated by poaching in the late 1980s, this 50-square-kilometer sanctuary is now home to some 30 rhinos, buffalo, Burchell's zebra, eland, lion and pangolin! Completely fenced in and accessible only from Mvuu Lodge during the dry season, the sanctuary is open to visitors on a walking safari.
