Travel Guide Fajã Da Ribeira D'Areia

When you reach the village of Ribeira d'Areia, a fork in the road on the right leads to the Fajã of the same name. After a few kilometers on a winding (very) steep road, you'll reach the hamlet's church. Continue your discovery on foot: the asphalt road has not been extended, no doubt to preserve the tranquility that reigns here. The peaceful setting invites meditation. As in the other fajãs, sweet potatoes, potatoes, vines and yams are grown here. On the sea side, grouper, anchovy and eel are caught on the hook. As for birds, the most common are the dove, blackbird, cory and sparrow.
