Fajã Penedia is reached by a dirt track accessible on foot, or why not by car for the more adventurous - in this case, beware of weather conditions: the track can be slippery (ask about this). A few beautifully renovated houses, terraced gardens - everything here exudes calm and easy living. And yet, every year, the August 25th festival attracts people from all the surrounding villages. Hundreds of people share a traditional soup, prepared in a kitchen adjoining the church! The church, rebuilt in the early 2000s after a terrible earthquake, originally dates back to 1889.
