Park commemorating the birthplace of Davy Crocket, a hero of American history, with a replica cabin from the era.
Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park commemorates the (supposed) birthplace of this hero of American history (1786-1836). There's a memorial dedicated to him, with a replica of a cabin from the era and an engraved stone recounting the great man's story. Organized tours take place on certain days, usually in the early afternoon. Make your way to Homestead Flagpole for the start of the tour (remember to check in advance for themes and times online in the Park Events section). Among the tours on offer: the cabin tour is the most frequent, but you can also take part in themed tours, usually on a part of the pioneer's life or adventure, or take a mini-training course to learn how to light a fire like a pioneer.
The rest of the park is essentially occupied by an 88-spot campground. Like any State Park, it's a pleasant place to picnic, hike and observe wildlife.
