Lost in the middle of Polésie, the village of Zakozel hides a True Architectural Pearl. It is here that in the th century the Polish noble family of the Orzeszko settled. In the th century, Nikodem Orzeszko decided to build a residence here. For its construction it does not call architects, but addresses the habitantsd around. An excellent example of elegance and finesse, the palace is destroyed almost entirely in the Soviet era. There is still a small part that, to date, is still inhabited. New tenants ensure that there are always flowers, as was customary in the Orzeszko, and that the beautiful shady lanes of the park are always in order. But the real jewel of the whole is the family chapel, built in neo-Gothic style in 1849 and decorated with Coats coats of Arms. It appears that the palace served as a refuge for Polish general Romuald Traugutt, head of the uprising against the Russian Empire in 1863. As is often the case in Belarus, this magnificent monument is abandoned and may collapse from time to time.Zakozel is located 17 km south of Drogitchyn (Дрогичин), west of Pinsk. The best thing is to go by car. Otherwise, take the bus from Drogitchyn.
