Military fort built during the reign of Carlos III, with the aim of monitoring the coast and preventing pirate incursions

The military fort of Sant Jordi was built during the reign of Carlos III, in the first half of the 18th century, with the aim of guarding the coast and preventing pirate incursions. Inherited from the style of military architecture of the Marquis of Vauban (architect of Louis XIV), its semicircular shape is built on two levels, the first level was reserved for domestic life while the second level, equipped with cannons, had a defensive character.
