From Gualaco, it is possible to climb at the top of the Picucha, the highest point of the Cordillera at 2 354 m altitude. Three to five days walk across all vegetation types of the national park.On the road (second day) you can bathe at the foot of La Chorrera waterfall, a superb place. Amazing views of the summit. This may be the most beautiful hike in Honduras, to take seriously. A guide is more than recommended, some parts of the trail having almost disappeared. You can also visit a series of eight waterfalls (up to 50 m high) that situated over a total distance of 600 m. Vehicles can win the lowest waterfall from the village of El Ocotal. We win Los Planes from Babilonia, a plateau at 1 250 m above sea level. The trail is not easy and it is better to be accompanied by a guide. Finally, the Susmay caves are a last alternative. 1 hour walk from Gualaco. You must win the village of Jicalpa and then the bunkhouse Las Joyas del Zacate. The so-called Río cave is a beautiful place with crystal clear waves.Consider taking a flashlight and snorkeling equipment. An essential guide and do not make the crazy, it is dangerous in places and you need to swim (one can venture around 1 km in the cave, many tunnels have not yet been studied). There are actually three other caves that can be visited, but two have been abused by local youth and the last one (called La Catedral because of its Amplitude) is more difficult to access.
