House with a remarkable architectural style in Vellereille-les-Brayeux producing a Bible with quality manuscripts
Founded in 1130 by a young Norbertine community, this abbey has a remarkable architectural style and remains magnificently preserved. It is also the only one in Hainaut to have been preserved during the French Revolution. The abbey was modest in comparison with its neighbors in Aulne and Lobbes, but the monks set out to produce quality manuscripts, such as the Bible now housed in the Royal Library in Brussels.
