S. ERZIA MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS OF MORDOVIA

A large, very modern museum of exceptional quality for a city the size of Saransk. The museum is dedicated to the "Russian Rodin" Stepan Erzia, a famous Soviet sculptor of biting origin. More than 200 of his works are on display, along with three other permanent exhibitions: one devoted to the paintings of his contemporary Fedot Sychkov (who was a pupil of Ilya Répine), one presenting Russian works from the 19th and 20th centuries, and one dedicated to Mordvin artists.
