ST. THEODOREUS USHAKOV CATHEDRAL

St. Theodore Ushakov Cathedral, completed in 2006, is the pride of the city. Its golden bulbs can be seen all over Saransk. Built according to Empire architecture, with a neo-Byzantine style main dome, Saransk Cathedral has become one of the largest cathedrals in Russia and the highest in the Volga region. It culminates at 63 metres and can accommodate nearly 3,000 worshippers (with a total surface area of 900 m²).
