Chatham was the first island to shelter a fort before the English moved to the north. When they wound at Port Blair, they built a sawmill operated by a mill on the island in 1836. Today, the island is connected by a bridge from Haddo Wharf. The visit of the mill along with that of the Musée de la Forêt allows to understand the economic development of the islands and the exploitation of their forest resources. You can see a bomb, a legacy of the Second World War, on the path to the museum.
