star-shaped penitentiary converted into a memorial to independence heroes, with a small museum at the entrance.
This star-shaped penitentiary was built in the late 19th century by the British to imprison and isolate Indian nationalist dissidents. The 698 cells were divided into 7 wings that all started from the central watchtower. Damaged by the Japanese during the Second World War, the prison is nevertheless impressive. Today it has been transformed into a memorial for the heroes of independence. A small museum is located at the entrance and a sound and light show is given in the evening.
