At the very end of the Pingxi railway line, Qingtong is a tiny and adorable village that perfectly embodies the train culture of Taiwan inherited from the Japanese occupation. The small train station is an unmissable sight, as are the old houses now adapted to tourism, converted into shops, cafés or restaurants. You can also take a walk in the surroundings, the nature is superb. From there, you can take the train back to Pingxi, or even walk along the railway track in beautiful scenery for about half an hour. The village is also accessible from Taipei, if you are motorized, thanks to a beautiful mountain road. Count 45 minutes from the centre of the capital.
