KINOSAKI DANJIRI MATSURI

It is the most important festival in Kinosaki. Over a period of two days, each district of the city (north, south, east and west) parades with its float. The climax of this matsuri takes place on the second day of the festivities, when the floats meet in the center of the city and fight. The excitement is at its peak when the danjiri collide amidst the shouts of the participants and spectators and the sound of drums. This frantic scene is in stark contrast to the typically peaceful and relaxing image of the city.
