Temple dedicated to Shiva, on the Plain of Prambanan, housing an imposing lingam, a yoni and statues of Durga and Ganesh.
Candi Sambisari, little visited (and even less known), is a temple dedicated to Shiva. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a sculpture of Makara, a mythological creature associated with water and fertility. Inside the sanctuary are an imposing lingam and yoni, sacred symbols of Shiva in Hindu tradition, as well as statues of Durga and Ganesh. A panel tells the story of its discovery by a farmer in 1966 (it was hidden under 6 m of earth).
