Green and lush, the Hauts de Saint-Denis are worth a visit, as they present another facet of the city and a glimpse of the fragmented and mountainous relief of the North and its coastline. They are also an ideal starting point for several hiking trails that cross Reunion Island as far as Saint-Pierre. Gradually, the town nibbles its way up these slopes, towards these old villages which constitute an island of freshness and which still retain a certain architectural cachet behind the modern constructions. On the east side, the paths of the Adam Peak or the Chaudron waterfall will offer you magnificent viewpoints.
