The 1.5 km long Katara beach has inflatable children's play equipment, parasols, water sports, deckchairs for hire and shisha bars. Bikinis are not permitted here, but burkis are. Toilets, showers, supervised swimming - everything is provided. Two free public beaches were inaugurated in 2022 in West Bay on the same principle. They are convivial, with 600 deckchairs, seaside food trucks and a children's playground. At the Doha Beach Club, a private club, swimsuits and bikinis are permitted, but admission is expensive.
