The last time the party was held in Gevrey-Chambertin was in 2000. So it took twenty years for Saint Vincent to return to the inhabitants and, after two years of preparation, here at last is the long-awaited weekend for the organizing village of this 76th edition. On 25 and 26 January 2020, Gevrey-Chambertin will be decked out in a thousand colours and vibrate for two intense days of fluttering and tasting. To fully understand the magnitude of the event:
- the village is expecting nearly 80,000 visitors. An important security and transport system is managed by a team of 800 volunteers;
- A team of 140 people, including 40 sommeliers, will serve the 2,400 diners expected at the two gala banquets. 70,000 "ecocup" were silk-screened for the occasion;
- 5 vintages will be tasted. 4,000 bottles from 2009, 2,000 bottles from 2013, 5,000 bottles from 2014, 4,500 bottles from 2017 and 4,000 bottles from 2018 in 14 cellars spread throughout the village and nearly 40,000 tasting kits will be distributed;
- 18 food trucks and 10 restaurants will allow you to eat hot or cold, salty or sweet;
- 220,000 paper flowers to decorate the village have been made by the 60 volunteers in 2 years, representing about 7,000 hours of volunteer work.
