Khorixas, with a population of about 7,000, is the main village in Damaraland, but offers little for the traveler to see except for its gas stations and small hospital. On the other hand, on the C39, on either side of Khorixas, from west to east, are the lands of the superb Torra Conservancy, the famous Twyfelfontein site, the Petrified Forest and the Vingerklip. Khorixas is at the crossroads of several destinations, the town is 131 km east of Outjo on the C39 which is paved, the C39 then continues to Torra Bay on 219 km of gravel track. From north to south on the C35, Khorixas is 115 km north of Uis and 105 km south of Kamanjab.
