Lost in the middle of Damaraland, the Twyfelfontein area is not really a town but is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in the region: a must for travelers who have not been to see the Brandberg paintings. It was inscribed as the first Namibian site on the Unesco World Heritage List in June 2007 The classic walk is done with a guide and allows you to discover on the rock walls countless engravings and rock paintings left by the first Bushmen. It is better to do these excursions early in the morning or shortly before sunset because it is so hot here.
