Only 15 km north of Savannakhet, Dong Natad is a forest still inhabited by minorities living close to nature. Excursions are organized by the Savannakhet guide office; ask for information on the spot (1 or 2 days excursions). In February and March, you will be able to observe the impressive honey harvest from the top of the trees, discover the sacred lake of Nong Lom, admire the That Ing Hang, observe the wildlife and share the daily life of the inhabitants by staying with a family. Not far from there are salt mines; possibility to observe the process of salt transformation, from the mine to the factory.
