Located 25 km from San Juan, the village of La Laja has a famous museum much more interesting than the one in the capital of the province. Following a chronological logic from 6,500 years before our era, seven rooms present the different civilizations that preceded the arrival of the white man on the continent. The star piece is the mummy, known as the mummy of Cerro del Terro (6,100 m above sea level), discovered in 1964 by members of an expedition. 10km from the small town, you can also visit the caves of Cuchillo Cura: endemic animal species have been discovered there as well as ancient cave paintings.
