Capital of the pampas, Santa Rosa is a city of nearly 100,000 inhabitants in the middle of the immense pampas. An important crossroads of the roads from north to south and west to east, it is an interesting stopover between Buenos Aires and Puerto Madryn or Neuquen, if you go to Patagonia by bus, and will be more authentic than San Antonio de Areco. Welcoming and pleasant, the city has picturesque estancias in the surrounding area. Founded in 1892, by French and Italian settlers like many villages in the region, it developed late, after the "conquest of the desert" by the conquistadores over the Ranquels Indians who lived here. You will find a tourist office at the bus station
