CHURCH OF SANTA MARÍA LA MAYOR

From the top of its promontory, the church of Santa María la Mayor rises up on the old city walls, forming a large fortified complex with the ruins of a 12th century castle. Built in the sixteenth century in the Gothic style, the church has a single nave and preserves a magnificent Mannerist altarpiece. Next to the church is the small chapel of the Vera Cruz, whose origins probably date back to the 13th century. Worth seeing.
