15 km north of Savannakhet, here is a forest still inhabited by minorities living near nature. Hiking in the forest, through the villages, is organized by the Guides Guides Office; find out on site (1 or 2 days excursion in general). In February and March, you can see the impressive honey harvest at the top of the trees, discover the sacred lake of Nong Lom, admire the Who Ing Hang (stupa) and share the daily lives of residents by staying within a family. You can also observe wildlife: birds, insects… Not far from there are salt mines; you can see how you harvest salt and see the process from the mine to the factory.
