The 190 km-long Miao Great Wall winds its way through the steep ridges of Hunan and Guizhou. Built between 1554 and 1622 during the Ming dynasty, it served as a bulwark against Miao rebellions. More than a simple fortification, it symbolized the separation between Han and Miao, hindering economic and cultural exchanges. Today, its remains stand between mountains and forests. A must-see if you're staying a few days in Fenghuang.
