Templo IV or Templo de la Serpiente Bicéfala, 65 m high, built around 740 by the ruler Yik'in chan K'awiil, with vegetation.

At around 65 m high, the Templo de la Serpiente Bicéfala is Tikal's tallest structure. Erected around 740 by the ruler Yik'in chan K'awiil - or Yaxkin Caan Chac - it is still covered by thick vegetation. After climbing the wooden stairs to its summit, you're faced with a breathtaking view of the surrounding monuments, as well as the forest stretching as far as the eye can see. Because of its location, the site is particularly popular with visitors as soon as it opens to watch the sunrise.
