About 30 km from Beira. The beach, pleasant, stretches over miles, but the sea is far from being a marvel, especially when it rained and the water - coffee colour in milk - from the mangrove is pouring very close. In normal times, the sea is correct, and looks like some beaches in northern France at low Tide. To reach Rio Savane, take the road that leaves Beira, and exit at the airport bridge. Thence move north, and continue the trail to the mouth of the mangrove. The trail extends straight into the middle of the wetland herbaceous plains, and during the rainy season it is not uncommon for one of the small bridges to collapse. That said, most of the time, a normal car passes smoothly. The trail also runs through a relatively dense forest area. Cars, when they come to the mangrove, cannot go any further. There are small motorized canoes on the other side for 20 Mtn. By public transport, one must first take a chapa in front of Sofala, up to the airport bridge, then walk through a little crossing (direction: the north) and "apanher" (catch) another chapa that leads to the "casa partida" at the mouth. Arriving at destination, Casa partida proves to be a former fishing club. There is nothing left, hence the name'destroyed house '. Rio Savane presents itself as a narrow strip of sand along the river and separating it from the sea.
