GAUGUIN'S PEARL

Gauguin's Pearl Farm is located on the atoll of Rangiroa, a low-lying island renowned for its huge lagoon and scuba diving sites. Part of the Tuamotu archipelago, which is made up almost entirely of atolls and about 300 km from Tahiti, Rangiroa is also the most famous island in the northwest of the archipelago. Located in the middle of the Motu de Avatoru, the pearl farm can be reached by the only road on the island or by the lagoon. Gauguin's Pearl has been in operation for more than fifteen years and holds a maritime concession of more than 400 hectares. It is also one of the most important black pearl farms in Polynesia.

In addition to the Rangiroa farm, Gauguin's Pearl also has a site on the Ahe atoll and another on the Manihi atoll, both in the northwestern Tuamotus. Ahe Atoll is famous for its collection, in other words, for its great capacity to provide young nacres to pearl farms. Manihi Atoll is a historical site for pearl farming as it was the site of the first private pearl farm in Polynesia. This atoll remains one of the major pearl production centers in Tahiti.

On Tahiti, Gauguin's Pearl has a sorting and marketing structure for its pearls, most of which are exported and sold to wholesalers in Japan and Hong Kong. Thanks to these three farms and its marketing network, Gauguin's Pearl represents a major entity in the field of pearl farming in Polynesia.
