RURAL BEACHES

If the beaches of Rurutu are rarely highlighted in tourist brochures, the island nevertheless conceals real little treasures. Apart from the white sandy beaches near Avera and towards the Arei Point, the most beautiful and best known is Toataratara, between the Toatane and Teape Rocks in the south. Incredible little coves with surrealistic karstic relief can also be found in places, but they are not so easy to find. Popa'a Beach, opposite the Teautamatea boarding house and near the marae of Vitaria, is also very attractive.
