PEARLESCENCE

Pearlescence is the story of Stéphanie, one of the first local transplanters in Polynesia, and Jérôme, her husband, who is just as passionate. Formerly producers in Manihi, they have ceased their pearl farming activity but still breed pearls in partnership with the SPM of Manihi, and still transform the mabe in their shop workshop in Moorea. Much less well known than the pearl - but no less beautiful - they are the product of a mother-of-pearl secretion around a synthetic half-core glued to the inner surface of the shell of a pearl oyster.
