MONASTERY FORTRESS OF THE CARMELITES (КЛЯШТОР КЛЯШТОР КЛЯШТОР)
The monastery was founded in 1627 instead of the th century castle, propriéte of the Tiszkiewicz family. During the Crimean War, Jan Tyszkiewicz was made prisoner by the Tatars. According to legend, during his captivity, he dreamed that carmélitaines sisters begged the Virgin to release Him. On his return to Berdychiv, he transformed the castle into a monastery. Over the centuries, monks fortified the monastery which, from the defeat of the Polish revolutionaries in 1863, was transformed by the tsar's authorities into the police station and fire barracks. It resumed its activity only in 1992.
