Bordering the eastern portion of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, this natural monument, a sacred site for the Navajo, was proclaimed a National Monument in May 1910 by President William Howard Taft. The "Rainbow Bridge" is 71 m high, 10 m wide and 13 m thick. It can be reached in two ways: by boat, after 50 miles of navigation on Lake Powell from Page, or on foot by a 22 km trail through the Navajo Reservation.
