MARKUŠOVCE MANOR HOUSE (KAŠTIEĽ MARKUŠOVCE)

The Markušovce manor house was built in 1643 by the Mariássy family and originally served as a defensive fortress. Rebuilt in the ^18th century in rococo style, it now houses an exhibition on the history of furniture. Another rococo villa, the Dardanely Summer House, was built in the late ^18th century in anticipation of the visit of Emperor Joseph II, which never took place. Don't miss the frescoes depicting Greco-Roman mythology, or the exhibition of traditional keyboards.
