MONASTERY OF ZEMEN (ЗЕМЕНСКИЯТ МАНАСТИР)

Located 3 km south of the village of Zemen, the monastery of the same name is certainly not as sumptuous as that of Rila and much more modest. But the interior murals are of great beauty. The small church of Saint Ivan the Theologian that it shelters dates from the ^XIIth century. To reach the monastery from the train station, take the road on the right on the square which rises gradually towards the south.
