The islands of Primeiras and Segundas form a coral archipelago that houses an interesting fauna. In particular, it is a sanctuary (in the Anglo-Saxon sense of the word, i. e. a retreat) for marine turtles as well as sirenians, that situated about to disappear. As you will have guessed, if these two species go to the scene, their underwater soil offers a rare density of marine grass. Care and WWF launched a project in 2008 to preserve the ecosystem.
