In Arabic: "Mahmeya tabi'i". Located 3 km south of Aswan, on an island where ninety-four species of shrubs that existed in Pharaonic times are protected, sixty species of birds have made their home there. Ghazal was the first dam before the construction of the 1964 dam by Nasser. It was at the level of the first cataract.
