Located 35 kilometers north of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Nabq Nature Reserve covers 600 square kilometers. Corals, Avicennia marina mangroves, one hundred and thirty-four plant species, oryx, gazelles and herons are the main species protected here. Mangrove trees can also be seen, surviving in the sea thanks to their roots and nearby freshwater springs. Nabq, located on the Gulf of Aquaba, is an excellent birdwatching site. The aim of this reserve, created in 1992, is to maintain the natural and cultural resources and biodiversity of the area, notably through ecotourism.
