The full name of the beautiful Zakabannaya mosque (which means in Russian: behind Lake Kaban) is "from the name of the 1,000 years of the adoption of Islam". It was built in red brick at the beginning of the 20th century in a modern style with green and white Arab-Moorish motifs. It looks like it's straight out of a Finnish fairy tale! On the ground floor prayers are held and on the first floor is the madrassa (Islamic school).
