Travel Guide Parque Nacional Macuira

Nazareth and the Parque Nacional Serrania de la Macuira are difficult to access, especially in the wet season (October-November), so it is best to go there on an organized tour. It is an oasis of 25,000 hectares formed by the only mountain range of the High Guajira. Its humid climate in the middle of the desert is somewhat disconcerting, but allows for optimal observation of many species of birds. Guided walks are organized to a beautiful waterfall. Two night stays are possible in the park (you sleep in a hammock) but you can also sleep in Nazareth, where the national park office is located.
